Five Foundations
to Amazing Health

At Chiropractic HQ we recognise there is more to extraordinary health than just having a healthy spine and nervous system.

We believe there are Five Foundations for a healthy lifestyle: Power, Movement, Attitude, Fuel and Rest.

When each of these foundations come together we believe it will create a platform for you to reach peak mental and physical well being, something that we strive to help our practice members achieve here at Chiropractic HQ.
Your body has an extraordinary desire to to be healthy. From the day you are born your body strives to heal and regenerate itself, this innate ability only works through one system, the nervous system. Your brain and nervous system control literally every aspect of your body’s function. Think of your nervous system like the electrics in your house – without a good connection nothing else can work correctly! Chiropractic care aims to reduce interference to your brain-body connection so you can run on full power, laying the foundation for other healthy lifestyle steps.

The modern day lifestyle has ultimately meant we all move a lot less than we should. When fully developed your spine is made up of 24 moveable vertebra – this is a clear indication that we are born to move - bend, flex and twist with ease. But movement forms the foundation for much more than just good spinal health, correct movement stimulates all areas of your body and brain and should be considered a basic daily requirement. Functional exercises, lifting weights, and sprinting are all key components of what we are designed to do - but this doesn’t necessarily mean we should all be in the gym every day. Sports, swimming, cycling, walking or running, yoga, playing in the park with your kids, dancing, in fact any movement that puts a smile on your face can help create a foundation for extraordinary health. Move well, and move often.
  • “Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person’s physical, emotional and mental states”

    Albert Einstein
  • “Movement is the song of the body”

“The top two inches” or “the space between your ears” - the human mind is a fascinating and complex thing. When it comes to your health your mind can be your greatest ally, but just like your body it needs exercising and proper stimulation too. Positive affirmation, mindfulness, self belief, a sense of purpose, mental clarity and focus help to guide you through your everyday life. A healthy mind with healthy thoughts is a very important and yet often overlooked foundation for extraordinary health. Learn how to get the most out of you mind to get the best of your health.

We have all felt the ill effects of eating or drinking something that perhaps we just shouldn’t have. Stomach cramps and irritability, bloating, wind, reflux, nausea and even vomiting. Our bodies are designed to give you feed back to help us learn and adapt. Sadly these days not enough of us seem to feel the positive effects of eating something that your body can thrive on. Packaged “foods” laden with added chemicals, preservatives and sugars are now common place on the supermarket shelves. Eating “whole” or real foods that suit your own unique genetic make-up, drinking plenty of quality water and limiting foods that cause our body distress or inflammation is a vital foundation to extraordinary health. When it comes to the right fuel there are some basic rules to follow, however exploring your individual needs is the key to achieving success. Always remember the most important rule of all: Life is about balance.
  • “The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison”

    Hippocrates
  • “Every time you eat or drink you are either feeding disease or fighting it”

    Heather Morgan
Do you wake up when your body tells you too? Or, when the alarm goes off? It is a well known fact that sleep is a basic requirement of the body. We achieve the highest levels of rest and repair when we sleep – this is when our innate healing works at its best. Although deep, restful sleep throughout the night is a vital foundation to extraordinary health many of us lead lifestyles that simply do not allow for enough of this. As well as having healthy sleeping habits, meditation, deep breathing, listening to music, nature walks or simply taking ten minutes out of your day to be still can also be very beneficial in helping drive your body towards greater rest.
  • “When you own your breathe nobody can steal your peace”

    Anon
  • “Sometimes the most urgent and vital thing you can do is take complete rest”

    Ashleigh Brilliant
  • “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you”

    Anne Lamott
  • “If you have no time to rest it’s exactly the right time”

    Mark Twain
  • “Sleep is the best meditation”

    Dalai Lama
  • Buddha was asked “What have you gained from meditation?” He replied, “Nothing! However, let me tell what I have lost: Anger, Anxiety, depression, Insecurity, fear of old age and death”
