Vertebral Subluxation
(nerve interference)
What causes subluxation? In a word – Life!
Over the course of our lives our bodies are subject to numerous stressors.
Chiropractors recognise that there are 3 major types of stressors:
Physical stressors: poor postures, heavy lifting, falls, sports injuries, car accidents, repetitive strain, not enough exercise and even the birthing process can put strain on a newborns spine.
Chemical stressors: what we eat, drink and breathe – environmental chemicals, preservatives, sugar, toxins, skin care products, drugs and alcohol.
Emotional stressors: relationships, loss of loved ones, anxiety, the build up of pressures we place on ourselves at school or work.
As we travel through life we are constantly adapting and evolving to our environment. Every Body has a limit as to how much stress it can manage. When excess stress is placed on the spine, vertebral subluxation or interference can take place.
It is important to recognise that a subluxation can exist without a pain or symptom. This is because only a small portion of your spinal nerves carry pain signals. This is why it is a wise idea for people to get their spine checked by a chiropractor regardless of how you might feel.
You wouldn’t start brushing your teeth only once you started to experience pain, by then it’s too late!
Equally, you might choose check the oil in your car from time to time, even if it is running well. The same proactive approach works well when aiming to keep your spine and body healthy.
Everybody deserves to have a nerve system free from interference. At Chiropractic HQ in Palmerston North, we're here to help you with just that.
